places in Bangkok as I can think of…
- The Grand Palace (daytime) make sure you dont wear shorts and slippers
- JJ Weekend market (daytime) Sat and Sun
- China town (day and Night) great place for Chinese foods
well, Im sure there’s much more but cant remember
Pattaya is not far from Bangkok but the beach and water isnt nice.
Better go to the west side of the country.
Phuket, you can go by plane, safe time.
But also recommend you go further to other islands,
I like those in Krabi and Trang.
At the airport, using taxi is convenient but dont really recommend,
even Thai people have problems with them, they’ll not use the miter. so better use buses (lots of them and they starts the route from airport so you’ll surely have seat) to the town and call taxi there instead.
Have fun in Thailand!

I went down south, take overnight trains there, make sure you buy hard sleeper or soft sleeper. (dont buy any hard seats).
i went to krabi, phuket ,kophihi, it is really beutiful, all are about 2 hour boat rides apart, exept for phuket you need a special bus to get there. but def worth it. i stayed about 4 days per beach, wish i could have stayed more in krabi.
whatever you do, dont miss the FULL MOON party!!!.. look it up, dates the name of the place is kohtao (i dont really know how to spell it).
in bangkok, make sure you go to kkhaosan road!!. .. it is mainly young backpackers, travelers, bars, hostals, markets, it is really beautiul,
try padthai everywhere you go!
i went to the reclining buddha and the big buddha temple. when you take Tuk Tuks, you are going to be offered about $1 an entire day, however the drivers get gas money for taking tourists into shops, so dont bother and just take a regular cab, bargain hard.

Spend 3 or 4 days in Bangkok at the beginning of your trip. This will get you used to the heat and time changes and a chance to purchase your flight to Phuket. Plan on a final night in Bangkok so you can do some last minute shopping or take in a final tour. This will also set yourself up for a quick taxi ride to the airport and not have to worry about a connecting flight breaking down.
Choose a hotel near the Skytrain route. This way you can use this overhead rail service to take you around the city easy and cheap. If you are really young then look into a hotel in the Khao San Road area. Lots of younger travelers go there – however, no Skytrain stop for that area. If you need hotel recommendations mention how much per night you want to spend. Use a baht amount to narrow down the suggestions.
Pattaya will be cheaper to get to and cheaper for hotels and transportation than Phuket or Bangkok. So if money is tight you will stretch your funds out a little more in Pattaya. Beach is not to good for swimming, but okay for sunbathing, walking, shopping, bars, restaurants. Nearby Jomtien Beach is okay for swimming. Phuket beach is better though. Many hotels have pools, even some of the cheaper ones. You can get the bus to Pattaya from the Ekamai bus station which is off a Skytrain stop. Price will be around 124 baht for the 2.4 hour ride. Purchase the ticket from the Pattaya window inside, right side. There is a slower 4-5 hour bus you want to avoid.
Good luck.
