Where can I find great but also cheap bungalows in Thailand?
I have heard that if you find places online they are generally run by Europeans and therefore you pay a lot more, then you turn up and find out the place next door or just a little further down the beach is 1/10th of the price but wasn't listed online as it's run by locals, how true is this and is it recommended to book much online or wait till I get there?
can anyone tell me how to find a really affordable house to rent in Thailand?
I am looking to go on a 3 month sabbatical with my family to Koh Samui, Phi phi or krabi.
Ideally I would like to rent a place for low cost for this period and have it close to the beach (of course). A place to finish writing a book.

Im looking to stay in Thailand for awhile. I wanna find a place with beautiful beaches, somewhere with nice mountains and forrests, just full of wildlife. Can any of you suggest a place in Thailand?
Also, would it be safe to go hiking in the forrests/mountains alone and swim in random areas? Will I get bitten by a snake or something?=P
