HONG KONG – Where is the best beach to meet other young backpackers?

White sand, relaxed and not too crowded, with young travellers to hang out with and a beachside bar to drink at... Is there such a thing in or around Hong Kong? I guess I'm looking for Thailand, but my flight goes through Hong Kong.

I've heard there are some nice beaches on the outlying islands (Lo So Shing, Tung O Wan, Pui O) and in the New Territories (Sai Kung Peninsula, Clearwater Bay Peninsula). I'm not that keen on crowded city beaches, so Repulse Bay might not be for me.

Any recommendations?
