I love everything about this beach and spend quite a bit of time at it, I live up on the northern end of the beach, if you love to walk, run and swim Kata beach is the place to go, and even during the high season you wont feel crowded, the beach is much more laid back than Patong and the scenery is very gorgeous. I have two of my distance swim routes on this beach; the PU island swim and I also like to swim from the south and make my way to the north end, both swim routes really give you a good swim workout, just be careful on some of the rip currents you will see the flags on the beach, they are located near Club med Resort beach area, so just be cautious when swimming in that area. How can I know where a good hotel is? I would like a beach front but I don't want to pay so much. Is there any really nice hotels that are close to the beach that are not expensive at all? Isearched this website and I found lots of places but don't know if one is better than the other or not....

The cheapest places aren't on the Internet, usually. Kata Beach is quieter than Patong Beach, there is another Up the coast on the other side of Patong, and they have many guest houses, should be cheaper. We rented a car at the airport the last time, and it actually SAVED us money over taxi to and from airport, and getting around, and made the trip easier and better. Budget Rentals had a great deal. You could rent for one night, and move around. It is low season now, and likely will be low until nearly Christmas with all the problems and bad press, so I wouldn't book for a whole trip in one place.

Kata Beach Phuket
Kata-Beach and Kata-Noi-Beach in Phuket, Thailand. Both beaches are very near. Kata Noi has a nice beach-area with bungalows build into the hill. Here you can stay directly at the beach. Sleep with the sound of waves. Kata Beach is mainly occupied by the Club Med Hotel. There you find a lot of trees, which are giving you a lot of shadow, while relaxing.
