How can I know where a good hotel is? I would like a beach front but I don't want to pay so much. Is there any really nice hotels that are close to the beach that are not expensive at all? Isearched this website and I found lots of places but don't know if one is better than the other or not....

The cheapest places aren't on the Internet, usually. Kata Beach is quieter than Patong Beach, there is another Up the coast on the other side of Patong, and they have many guest houses, should be cheaper. We rented a car at the airport the last time, and it actually SAVED us money over taxi to and from airport, and getting around, and made the trip easier and better. Budget Rentals had a great deal. You could rent for one night, and move around. It is low season now, and likely will be low until nearly Christmas with all the problems and bad press, so I wouldn't book for a whole trip in one place.
