I am contemplating to put play sand in my aquarium. I live in a tropical country so I am thinking of getting a bucket of sand. I want to point out that our lagoons are of very good quality and our beaches have very fine white sand like that in Thailand, Caribbean Islands. Of course I will wash the sand carefully to remove all debris and boil it. By the way, I have discus and angel fish. But before adding the sand I have a few questions as follows?
- Since the sand is very fine, is it dangerous for my fish when they will try to pick food at the bottom?
- When I will siphon the bottom of my aquarium weekly, I think that the sand being very fine will be sucked
I would like more information on these two issues and your help will be most appreciated.
